Desalination Project In Sydney Wins Global Water Award

– As part of its joint venture with Veolia Water, John Holland has been recognized at the 2011 Global Water Awards, winning the Best Plant of the Year Award for Sydney’s Desalination Project at the Global Water Summit 2011 in Berlin.
With a production capacity of 250 million litres per day, the Sydney Desalination Plant was designed and constructed by John Holland. Working closely with Veolia Water for Sydney Water, the plant is Australia’s largest desalination plant and provides a significant contribution to Sydney Water’s plan to match Sydney’s water demand.
This win is one of great significance to John Holland as it allows the organisation to showcase and flex its muscles on the ability of John Holland to successfully deliver a major water infrastructure project in collaboration with trusted industry partners and the community.
Other finalists for the Desalination Plant of the Year Award included Chennai Minjur in India, Thames Gateway (Beckton) in the United Kingdom, and Tianjin MED in China.
